Zoom in with Magnifying Glass

Android phones have the built-in ability to look at any area of your screen with greatly enlarged zoom. If you have low vision, you can thus zoom into everything you click on, be it text, pictures or menus, as you would do with a magnifying glass when you read a book or magazine.

To look at any area of your screen with greatly enlarged zoom, we need to change the Magnification Gestures settings, which are turned off by default. This setting is only available on newer Android phones -- the ones that run on Android version 4.2 or above. For this one-time setup, it would best to have someone helping you in setting it up.

Here is step by step how to get your Android phone or tablet to provide magnifying glass zoom:
  1. Towards the bottom of the screen, click on the icon that leads you to all applications

  2. Swipe your finger from right to left to find the Settings icon and click on it

  3. Scroll all the way down until you find the Accessibility option and click on it

  4. In the middle of your screen, find the Magnification Gestures option

  5. Click on the Magnification Gestures option
  6. In the upper right corner, toggle the Off/On switch to the On position

  7. Now that Magnification Gestures is activated, you can get back to your home screen by clicking on the Home icon in the middle at the very bottom of your screen

If you have Explore by Touch already enabled, then the steps you need to take are just slightly different:
